Thats right campers! SLO Faire! San Louis Obisbo Faire! AKA The Central Coast Renaissance Faire held annually at El Chorro Regional Park! Donny gave me the go ahead to look into it and my contacts down there on the faire board have asured me that a new generation of faire board is installed and they would love to have the Danse Macabre back at their faire! Mark your calendars! This faire is set for the weekend of July 18-19. We, the DM, have not been here for about 4 years and they want us back! I've been going down ever year on my own for another gig I do down there, but miss terribly the fun I had doing the Danse down there. Before we can apply however, we need to see if we have enough interest i.e. do we have enough musicians and dancers to make a crew worthy of applying for! If not, we shall not apply! So, speak up! Look at your calendars and see if you can make it and if so, do you want to make it and if so will you commit to making it so we can figure if we have enough interest to warrent applying as a guild! I've gone to this faire for years! Its a blast! So there it is! Are you interested? Speak up! I'll be taking a tally to see if we have enough interest! Don't email me or anyone else privately. Say so here so all can see that there is a crew gathering for this gig! Its a fun one. Okay, you going? ~Kurt AKA the Headbone

Re: Head bone?
Tue, May 26, 2009 - 6:01 PMKurt thinks "Headbone" is the crowdbreaker. In my experience, "headbone" is the person who runs the show, that would be Susan. -

Re: Head bone?
Wed, June 17, 2009 - 12:34 AMDidn't realize it was such a big deal about a name. I've been called that a number of times and told it was because I was out front breaking open walls of crowds blocking our way with my spinning, dancing movement, which I purposefully do cuz I can and know how to without being rude to the audience. It sounded cool, I liked it, so I went with it. If it aint cool, if I'm violating some form of tradition that I'm not aware of I'll cease and desist. Let me know. -

Re: Head bone?
Wed, June 17, 2009 - 12:37 AMAnd Sweeney, my friend, a mutiny? Really?
Check out the part where I said, "Donny gave me the go ahead to look into it."
If I see a thing that needs some taking charge of, its my nature to do so. SLO needed some attention if we're ever to get back there. So I approached both Susan and then Donnie to look into it and they approved. No mutiny here.

Re: Head bone?
Wed, June 17, 2009 - 12:38 AMAnd by the way, you all didn't have anything to say about the substance of my post. Hopefully you find the prospect of us going back to SLO as cool as I do.

Re: Head bone?
Fri, June 19, 2009 - 11:19 AMI think I am speaking about semantics here. I agree with Qatana that the term "Headbone" has always referred to the Guild leader. The person dancing in front has been called the crowd breaker, or I have heard roadkill call herself the "Neckbone."
Whenever anyone calls themselves the "head" of anything, folks get confused. And I wouldn't wish the head of the Danse Macabre on anyone. Nearly every "head" of the Danse macabre that I have served under has always walked away bitter and disheartened.
I am not sure where the words "Donny gave me permission to look into it" fits here. I simply got confused with your semantics, and needed clarification that you were the "contact" person for SLO, not the "headbone" I was thinking of. Thanks for clarifying. :)

Re: Head bone?
Wed, June 17, 2009 - 7:25 AMWhen I did what you do, Kurt, the position was Crowdbreaker. Thats what I did, thats what I was. I also did ALL the admin for the band. But Whitewolfe was the Headbone, and before her Angelo was the Headbone. When Angelo was the Headbone, Thea was the Crowdbreaker.I'm a stickler for tradition. Most of the band is not. -

Re: Head bone?
Mon, June 22, 2009 - 11:59 PMAnd I was called Head Bone by my guildmaster at Southern, when I was the crowdbreaking dancer. So I guess it really does depend on who you talk to. But does it really matter that much? Seriously? -

Re: Head bone?
Sun, June 28, 2009 - 9:46 AMNorthern & Southern Bones have always had different terminology, casting practices, rehearesal philosophy. "Always" being since 1996 when I joined!
